PURPOSE:To read color information of a color original, by using an image sensor of one chip where a plurality of photo sensors are covered with a color transmission filter and running the image sensor mounted on a carriage. CONSTITUTION:A color original 1 is illuminated with an illumination tungsten lamp 31 and its reflected light is formed on an image sensor 6 with a lens 54. The image sensor 6 has three-row of photo diode array of which lengthwise direction coincides with the sub-scanning direction A, and reads color information for number of lines equal to the number N of photo diodes by electrically scanning the photo diode array while moving a carriage 7 toward a main scanning direction B. When one carriage running is finished, the color original 1 is fed toward the sub-scanning direction by an interval equal to the number of lines to be read and returns the carriage 7 to the home position during the paper feeding. |
