<p>Apparatus for expanding n bits of digital data from a source such as a digital computer into up to 2(n-l) selectively pulsed outputs. The apparatus is enabled by one of the n data bits which indicates when data is present on the remaining n-l data bits. A first portion of the remaining n-l data bits selects and enables a specific one of a plurality of decoders while a second portion of these n-l data bits addresses a specific output from the enabled decoder. The decoders have a total of up to 2(n-l) outputs which are selectively pulsed when addressed. Error detecting circuitry verifies that a pulsed decoder output corresponds with the n-l bits of digital data from the source. The apparatus is useful in process control apparatus which periodically generates analog data representing different process parameters together with digital data identifying such process parameters.</p> |
