PURPOSE:To eliminate irregular colors by superposing the 1st cell wherein a nematic liquid crystal is sandwiched between two sheets of transparent substrates, and the 2nd cell having no electrodes and intersecting the wall bearings of the 1st cell and the 2nd cell via transparent substrates. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 2a, 2b are provided to transparent glass substrates 1a, 1b, and a nematic type liquid crystal is sealed therein between a spacer 3, whereby the 1st cell is formed. The 2nd cell wherein the same nematic liquid crystal is sealed is superposed via a spacer 7 between transparent substrates 6a, 6b is superposed thereon to one body, to which polarizing plates 9a, 9b are provided. The inside surfaces of the substrates 1a(14a), 1b(14b), 6a (15a), 6b(15b) are rubbed in bearings 10, 11, 12, 13 by cotton or the like. The wall bearing 11 of the 1st cell intersects orthogonally with the wall bearing 13 of the 2nd cell. Since the 2nd cell having no electrodes are superposed, the formation of irregular colors is reduced without degrading the responsiveness of the TN element. |
