The rudder assembly for awater craft includes a rubber(10) to the trailing edge of which a fin(20) is pivoted. The rudder & fin are independently actuatable by a power steering system. The fin is moved by hydraulic actuators & is provided with a hydro-pneumatic fin retard mechanism. Several separate fin sections may be employed, each of which is lockable in alignment with the rudder. Hydraulically actuatable bolts, catches, strap or a chain brake may be used.
