The crane has vertical post(5) to which a boom(6',6") is hinged. The hinge has vertical pivots attached to the post & horizontal pivots attached to the boom. Separate drives pivot on the post & hinge, and boom & hinge, to swivel the boom horizontally & vertically respectively. The vertical swivelling drive includes a ram(32) & links(32-34). The horizontal swivelling drive includes a ram(25) & links(18,24). Two booms may be provided on a ship board crane for working force & aft holds.
