PURPOSE:To reduce the rejection of recognition for an input character and to reduce the occurrence of misrecognition, and to realize a character recognizing device which can recognize characters in a wide range with high practical performance, by using a dictionary memory for the prescribed characters objected for recognition auxiliary memory for characters out of objects for recognition, etc. CONSTITUTION:The fed character information is supplied to a character recognizing part 1 as the pattern information. The part 1 compares a pattern of the input characters with a dictionary pattern registered to a dictionary pattern memory 2. Then the pattern matched characters are extracted to recognize the input characters to be registered to a read result memory 4 via a control part 3. In case no matching of pattern is obtained, a recognition rejection signal, for example, is fed to the part 3 and displayed at a display 5. The result of recognition is fed to the part 3 by an operator and via a keyboard 6. Then the characters out of objects for recognition are recognized via an auxiliary memory 7 plus character code lists 8 and 9. |
