PURPOSE:To obtain a modified catalyst composition storable after adjustment, and always usable when wanted, by kneading a catalyst modified with a modifying agent and a silicone resin having gas permeability, and solidifying them into a desired form. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst modified with a modifying agent is kneaded with a silicone resin having gas permeability, and solidified into a desired form to prepare a new type of modified catalyst composition having storage stability after adjustment, and cnvenience of being always usable when wanted. As catalysts used for this catalyst composition are Raney nickel, reduced nickel catalyt, etc., and they are modified with a modifying agent, such as tartaric acid and sodium bromide to obtain a modified catalyst. Stereoselective reduction using this catalyst can be carried out by hydrogenating a starting material in a solvent or without any solvent in presence of this catalyst composition by the ordinary method. |
