PURPOSE:To reduce the number of starting resistors by employing only one set of starting resistors, switching the resistors by a changeover switch, and sequentially starting a plurality of motor generators, thereby commonly using the resistors. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of motor generators, in which motors A and generators G are coupled directly, the connected through a set of starting resistors STR1, STR2 and changeover switches L1-L6 to a pantograph Pan. The switches L5, L1, L3, L3, L4 are initially closed in this order, thereby starting the motor A1, the switches L3, L5 are then opened, the switches L2, L3, L6 are closed in this order, thereby starting the motor A2 and operating the motors.
