PURPOSE:To derive both image information and the character information with a photoelectric converting element, by providing a means etc. to decide the addresses to be supplied of the photoelectric conversion signal according to the level of the photoelectric conversion signal which is obtained from a photoelectric converting cell. CONSTITUTION:A means is provided to decide the addresses to be supplied of a photoelectric conversion signal according to the level of the photoelectric conversion signal obtained from a photoelectric converting cell. For instance, a filter disk 4 is turned by a motor 5 to make filters 41 and 42 pass alternately through an optical path 3. At the same time, the light that is irradiated from a light source 2 and passed through the disk 4 after reflected by a transport path 1 is converted into a video signal by a photoelectric converting element 6. Then the video signal supplied from the element 6 is sampled by a switching circuit 7 and with the prescribed timing. This video signal is supplied to an optical character reader 8 when the filter 41 is passing on the path 3 and the level of the video signal approximates to the white light. While the video signal is supplied to a facsimile 9 in case the filter 42 is passing on the path 3 and the level of the video signal approximates to the black light. |
