PURPOSE:To obtain a mesh roll suitable for offset printing by a method in which a highly wear-resistant metal plating is applied on the peripheral side to be touched by a blade of a mesh roll and a hydrophobic metal plating is applied to the inner face with dents for trapping ink. CONSTITUTION:Ink 6 in an ink pan 5 is taken out by a fountain roll 7 and transferred to a mesh roll 4, the ink adhered to the surface of the mesh roll is scraped away, the ink adhered to the inside of fine pores is supplied through a form roll 10 to a plate cylinder 11. In such as offset printer, a highly wear- resistant substance layer 22a, e.g., chrome plating layer, is applied to netted projection face 22 on the surface of the mesh roll 4, and also a hydrophobic (or lipophilic) substance layer 9a, e.g., Cu plating layer, is applied to the inner face with dents 9 for trapping ink. |
