PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic log excellent in machinability from which a board can be obtained using exsisting facilities, by burying a specified pressing member longitudinally under pressure to form a synthetic log while arranging the directions of fibers of chips in directions other than the centripetal direction. CONSTITUTION:The chips 5 that contains fibers longitudinally and are coated with an adhesive are loaded in a space 3 of an approximately cylindrical mold frame 1, and it is covered with a lid 7. Then the pressing member 6 that is made up of a machinable material and has a tapered forward end 6a is buried through the hole 7a in the lid 7 into the central part of the chips 5 under pressure. Thus the synthetic wood W can be formed wherein the chips 5 are approximately uniformly pressed with the fibers of the chips arranged in directions other than the centripetal direction. |
