The arrangement uses a cooling circuit (6) which contains a water pump (7) to circulate hot water from the engine through a radiator (8) to a return flow pipe (9). Water from this radiator also flows-through a secondary radiator (14)- to radiators (13) attached to a series of thermoelectric generators (17) forming a thermoelectric generator (12). This generator is located between the exhaust pipe (11) and the silencer box. The thermoelectric generators are mounted between the hot surface of the exhaust pipe and the cold surface produced by the cooling water. The thermoelectric elements are connected together by bus bars to connect them to the vehicle electrical circuit and battery through a voltage regulator.
