PURPOSE:To speed up a writing speed and to obtain a projective picture with high resolution, by mixing a color element having a light absorbing characteristic which takes a maximum value at an oscillation wave region of a laser light source for writing in a liquid crystal layer, making this color element absorb laser and exchange the energy of laser into heat. CONSTITUTION:A laser light oscillated at a laser light source 1 is strongly modulated with a modulation signal corresponding to a video signal of a modulation signal source 3 at an optical modulator 2. This modulated laser light is subject to deflection based on a horizontal and vertical synchronizing signal at a scanner 6 to horizontally and vertically scan the transparent electrode surface of a liquid crystal cell 9. The opposing electrode plates of the cell 9 clip a liquid crystal layer added with a color element having a light absorbing characteristic in which a maximum value is taken at the oscillating frequency of the laser light source 1, and an optical image is formed on the cell 9. A projected image with high resolution can be obtained on a screen 14 from this optical image. |
