PURPOSE:To attain effective modulation even for circular polarized waves, by reflecting waves to the same rotating direction without inversely rotating the circular polarized waves at nonresonance of slots and reflecting straight line polarized components only at slot resonance. CONSTITUTION:When a right rotating circular polarized wave A projcted from a radar antenna 3 is made vertically incident to a reflector 20 with variable reflection factor, a vertical polarized wave component of the wave A is reflected to the incident direction with an electromagnetic wave reflector 21. On the other hand, the horizontal polarized wave component of the wave A reaches an electromagnetic wave reflector 22. With a switch 28 opened and switching diodes 26- turned off, the horizontal polarized wave component can be reflected almost on the reflector 22. Since the phase difference between the reflected wave of the vertical polarized component and that of the horizontal component is different by pi radian, being the difference of route, when the reflected wave of the horizontal polarized wave component returns to the reflector 21, the synthesized reflection wave becomes a right rotating circular polarized wave C and is reflected without inverting rotation. In closing the switch 28, the diodes 26- are turned on and only the vertical polarized wave component can be reflected. |
