The distributor delivers air to the valves of an I.C. engine, to open them in a predetermined sequence. The distributor has a housing (1) with a shaft (3) which can pivot within it, attached to a disc (7) moving in a chamber (6) in the housing, controlling air flow passages. One end of the shaft, which extends into the chamber, has an obturator disc (30) which can be axially displaced. It moves between a position in sealing contact with the exterior surface of the disc, to close the passage and an inactive spaced position.
