Batteries of horizontal oven chambers are stoked with dried, preheated coal by a longitudinal conveyor system over the oven roof. The main conveyor is joined by intermediate conveyors to vertical feed channels over the stoking openings in the top of the ovens and these conveyors can be shut off at will. The vertical feed channels are sub-divided into gas outlet channels and gravity stoking channels. |
