An optical scanner includes a rotating mirror drum(25) & an oscillating mirro (43) with one or more optical devides(41) located between them in the light beam path. The optical manner is specifically described in a thermal imaging system which generates high resolution images at commercial TV rates while scanning relatively large apertures. A magnifying relay lens system(41) including an objective lens(45) & an eyepiece(47) re-images the pupil at the mirror drum onto mirror(43), so that there is a real pupil at mirror(43) with no image artifacts. The relay lens system defines an image plane(53). |
