Solution for sterilising and removing pyrogens from stainless steel lines and filters in a closed system

An aqueous solution for sterilising and removing pyrogens which contains 0.1 to about 2.0% of hydrogen peroxide and/or 0.1 to 1.5% of peracetic acid as well as at least one pharmacologically acceptable heavy metal chelating agent is described. In order to be able to render, and maintain, stainless steel membrane filter systems and lines in a closed system sterile and pyrogen-free using solutions with a very low content of peroxy compounds reliably without damaging the macro- and microscopic structure of the sensitive membrane filters it is provided that the aqueous solution of peroxy compounds be stabilised by adding a physiologically inert chelating agent.
