The invention relates to a pulverulent carpet care composition for removing animal puddles and other malodorous substances. It contains 70-95% by weight of a moisture-binding, water-insoluble component, 1-10% by weight of a disinfectant, 0.5-5% by weight of an odour binder, 2-10% by weight of a dustproofing agent, and 1-5% by weight of a perfume. At least 70% of the particles have a diameter greater than 100 mu m.
