The invention relates to an appliance for preparing layers on an areal base (4), which appliance consists of an aerosol spray device, a high-voltage generator and a spraying electrode (brushing electrode, emission electrode) (1). In this arrangement, the particles of an aerosol (9) sprayed onto the surface (3) of the base (4) are electrically charged in a corona discharge (8) emanating from the spraying electrode (1) and are deposited on the surface (3) of the base (4). In order to increase the deposition rate of the particles, the spraying electrode (1) is of special design, in that it has corona points (spray points) (2, 2') which are arranged next to one another and at equal distances (a) from the surface (3) of the base (4), and whose central axes (5, 5') form identical acute tilt angles (7) with the plane (6) of the corona points (2, 2'). In this arrangement, a deposition rate of more than 80% is achieved. <IMAGE>
