Supercharging system for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a supercharging system for a four, six or eight-cylinder internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger on each longitudinal side of a row of cylinders. The arrangement of the exhaust gas and intake pipes is so designed that the exhaust gas pipes and corresponding outlet ducts of a first part of the cylinder of a row of cylinders with symmetrical spark plug gap and the intake pipes and corresponding inlet ducts of a second part of the cylinder with symmetrical spark plug gap are connected to a longitudinal side of the row of cylinders, an exhaust gas turbocharger being assigned to these exhaust gas and intake pipes and a further exhaust gas turbocharger being assigned to the exhaust gas pipes of the second part and the intake pipes of the first part on the other longitudinal side of the row of cylinders. By means of this possible arrangement a more favourable distribution of the thermal load is achieved and an improved utilisation of the confined spaces in the engine compartment is possible.
