The invention relates to a pressure-cooker having a lid which can be locked on the cooker by turning it, a handle on the lid and a handle on the cooker being closely adjacent in the locking position. Devices are known with handles which lie one above the other over the entire length and with approximately horizontal joint in the locking position. These require awkward handling, especially if both handles have to be gripped simultaneously with one hand. The locking position which is required for safety reasons is visually not precisely recognisable. The object of the invention is a design in which the cooker and the lid can be moved without difficulty and without special attention from the open position into the locking position and vice versa. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the cooker handle and the lid handle lie laterally against one another with an essentially vertical joint at least in their pot-shaped end region in the locking position. The cooker handle and lid handle are thus mainly pushed laterally against one another. The movement is visually clearly recognisable. There is no scissor movement with the risk of trapping the fingers. The handles may be designed to be tapered in the end region and thus easily grippable.
