Ball-type coupling for motor vehicles to which single- or tandem-axle trailers are to be coupled. The ball-type coupling is to be attached to the vehicle in a concealed manner and is provided with a receiving sleeve which is arranged approximately vertically behind the bumper or the like and in which the attachment neck, which is angled upwards, is provided with a rod which is guided in an axial hole and on the upper end of which is provided a hammerhead for reaching behind, and holding the rod in, a cover closure of the sleeve on rotating the rod, and on the lower, freely projecting end of which is provided an operating lever. The operating lever for the rod (2.1) bears as a clamping lever against an abutment (62) arranged on the neck (18). The upper side of the cover part (5.3) of the sleeve (2) is provided with wedge-shaped sloping surfaces (5.5.1) rising from edges (5.5.2), lying radially opposite one another, of the through slot (5.6) and extending up to the counteredges (5.5.3). <IMAGE>
