Apparatus for curving panes of glass

To curve panes of glass heated to the softening temperature, straight transfer rods are moved downwards vertically in the deformation zone, between the upper transfer position and the lower deformation position; in time coordination with this movement, a pressure-application apparatus is laid on the upper side of the pane of glass and displaced downwards together with the transfer rods; in the deformation position, the pane of glass rests on stationary shaping rods which are curved vertically downwards and the shape of which is matched to the intended curvature of the pane of glass. Arranged after the deformation zone is a prestressing section in which the curved panes of glass are cooled, without influencing their surface, by blowing gas onto them.
