A drop-down barrel firearm comprises an ejector which includes a slide member 2 located beneath the barrel 1 and maintained in a cocked position by a tooth 16 of a two-armed pawl 14. A release arm 20 is pivotally mounted on a carrying arm 17 of the two-armed pawl, the release arm 20 being urged away from the carrying arm by a spring 21 such that the release arm 20 engages a stop 22 of the carrying arm. The firearm is also provided with a cocking lever 28 which in the breakup of the firearm cocks the firing hammer 36 and actuates the ejector through the forward end of the lever 28 engaging the release arm 20 to pivot the pawl away from the slide member. If the hammer 36 is still cocked the lever 28 does not engage the arm 20 and thus the ejector only moves a small distance L until a projection 9 of the slide member engages the tooth 16 of the pawl. The firearm may possess a plurality of barrels in which case an ejector is provided for each barrel. |
