A proportional hydraulic control device (10) for flow regulation independent of load is proposed in which the load pressure is picked up via spring chambers (4, 42) in the directional control valve (11). The control spool (26) has an annular control groove (53') which is connected to the load pressure line (55') and in the centre position (62) lies in the housing web (44) formed between a spring chamber (42) and a return chamber (38). A second control collar (54') opens the connection of the annular control groove (53') to the spring chamber (42) in the working position (63), while a first control collar (52') prevents its relief. Thus, in the case of a directly actuated directional control valve of smaller nominal size such as nominal size 10 and less, a controlled pick-up of load pressure can thus be carried out with minimum outlay directly in the valve (11) of small construction. <IMAGE>
