Bipolar electrode having graphite as carrier, production and use thereof

Bipolar electrodes having graphite as support are furnished with a layer of chromium trioxide on both the anode side and the cathode side. The chromium trioxide layer has a layer thickness of at least 10 mu m. The electrodes are produced by plasma spraying of pulverulent chromium trioxide onto a graphite support body. The electrodes can be used as bipolar electrodes in cells for the electrolysis of alkali metal chlorides.
