The invention relates to a process and a device for treating elongated metal or non-metal articles such as wires, tubes, laminates or profiled articles, by means of a fluid. The device comprises, at the treatment station, at least one chute (46) having a bottom (47) open at (48) over its entire length in the direction of movement of the elongated article (1), together with means of supplying the treatment fluid (4), and means (45, 42, 43, 49) making it possible to obtain a homogeneous and regular circulation of the treatment fluid (4) in the treatment zone around the elongated article (1), advantageously in a perpendicular direction, in the case where the elongated article (1) passes substantially horizontally below the chute (46).
