PURPOSE:To facilitate corrective machining of a groove error, by holding an inner or outer race of an equal speed joint in a plane, crossing at a right angle with the rotary shaft of an index table, and moving a ball end cutter at a prescribed angle. CONSTITUTION:Chuck parts 27, 28 hold an inner or outer race 49, 29 in a plane, crossing at a right angle with the rotary shaft of an index table 23, while a ball end cutter 45 is moved always in the above described plane by holding a prescribed angle with the inner or outer race. In this way, even if an error is caused in an indexing position of the index table 23, the depth of a machined groove is only changed by the amount corresponding to the error, and the error can be easily corrected in an after process. |
