Coaxial vertical cylindrical walls form a reaction vessel which is divided into compartments by radial partitions between the walls; each compartment has mechanical agitation and is capable of being connected to other compartments or by-passed. Used for solid-liquid reactions esp. for making phosphoric acid, sodium sulphate, ammonium sulphate, ammonium phosphate and superphosphate and other chemical processes on an industrial scale Any compartment may be isolated for cleaning or maintenance, compact, simple design is space-saving and radiation losses are low.
