PURPOSE:To execute positioning without increasing the feed rate of a medium and the number of sensors, and also to make a structure of a device small sized and simple, by detecting both arrival to an alignment position and arrival to a reference stop position of the medium by one sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a medium 1 is fed by a feed roller as it remains unarrayed against a reference surface fixing guide 2, the tip of the medium 1 is detected by a sensor 4, rotation of the roller 3 is stopped, and simultaneously, it is separated from the surface of the medium 1. In this case, the medium pressed in the direction of the guide 2 by a pressure plate 6 is shifted in its feed direction or the reverse direction from its reference stop position, therefore, the tip of the medium 1 changes its position against the sensor 4. Subsequently, the roller 3 is pressed against the medium 1 again, and in case when the sensor 4 detects the medium 1, the feed roller is rotated in reverse direction and when a medium detecting signal of the sensor 4 has changed to ''non-existence'' from ''existence'', rotation of the roller 3 is stopped. |
