The Fe (II) solution resulting when leaching ores with Fe(III) solutions is regenerated by blowing oxygen ore oxygen contg. gas, such as air, into the solution with simultaneous addition of a reducing agent, esp., with SO2, SO2-contg. gas or sulphite esp., a bisulphite solution in amounts of 1/2 mole to 1 mole of Fe.
