PURPOSE:To permit easy opening of a tap hole by packing the tap hole of a blast furnace right after tapping with a required amt. of mud, driving a round steel bar into the central part of the tap hole immediately thereafter and pulling the round bar out in the next tapping stage. CONSTITUTION:Mud 2 prepd. by mixing graphite, etc. with refractory mortar is packed into the tap hole 1 of a blast furnace 4 right after tapping of molten iron 7 only in the required portions in the cylindrical hole part 1b of the tap hole. In other words, the mud 2 is not packed in the inside end 1a and outside end 1c of the tap hole. Before the mud 2 right after the packing is calcined and solidified, a round steel bar 3 made of mild steel for opening is driven in approximately the central part of the part 1b, whereby the hole 1 is packed. This method uses the mud 2 in a smaller amt., requires smaller force for pulling out of the bar 3 in the stage of tapping and is advantageous in operation of blast furnace of large capacity and large heat quantity. |
