ELECTROSTATIC LATENT IMAGE WRITING HEAD

PURPOSE:To provide a titled writing head which enables the preparation of a highly precise electrostatic latent image by arranging two opposed sets of electrode trains comprising a plurality of electrodes on the surface of an insulating substrate and an acceleration electrode on the back thereof. CONSTITUTION:Two opposed sets of discharge electrodes 2 are arranged on the surface of an insulating substrate 1 (numeral 10 indicates a lead) and acceleration electrode 3 on the back thereof to form an electrostatic latent image writing head. Said head is arranged on a conductive substrate 11 with a dielectric layer 4. (i) Positive voltage pulses 7 matching the basic cycle of writing are applied to the acceleration electrodes 3 and (ii) positive voltage pulses 5 and negative voltage pulses 6 applied to a pair of discharge electrodes 2 and 2 opposite to each other at the image formation position so that a positive ion generated in the discharge region 8 is attached to the surface of the dielectric layer 4 to form an electrostatic latent image 9. As the above-mentioned electrodes can be formed by etching method, a higher density thereof is accomplished easily.
