<p>PURPOSE:To maintain the freshness of green vegetables by contacting the vegetables with a sheet having high water absorption and water retainability. CONSTITUTION:A water-absorbing and water-retaining sheet (a water-absorbing sheet composed of a water-absorbing resin layer sandwiched between a vapor- barrier layer and a gas- and water-permeable layer, or paper or non-woven fabric made of pulp fibers hving high water-absorption, which can absorb and retain 100-600 grams of water per 1m<2>) is moistened to absorb and retain e.g. about 400 grams of water per 1m<2>. Green vegetables (e.g. spinach, KOMATSUNA (a kind of Chinese cabbage), Welsh onion, etc.) are packed in a container made of the above sheet. When the container is a corrugated board box, the sheet is the one having the vapor-barrier layer at single side, and when it is a tray, both sides of the sheet are gas- and water-permeable layers.</p> |
