PURPOSE:To provide a preventing agent for ionitriding by mixing inorg. aggregate as required in a specific proportion with water soluble or water dispersible inorganic compds. such as silicate, aluminate or phosphate and preparing the mixture into slurry or paste. CONSTITUTION:A titled agent is a preventing agent for ionitriding for the purpose of protecting parts of the surfaces of iron and steel products which do not require ionitriding in the case of subjecting the surfaces of said products to an ionitriding treatment and said agent is coated on the parts to avoid ionitriding in the form of slurry or paste. Powder aggregate of oxide such as alumina or silica, or nitride, carbide of Si and B is mixed at 100pts.wt. in 10-1,000pts.wt. an aq. soln. or dispersion of water soluble alkali metal silicate such as lithium silicate, sodium silicate or the like, water dispersible silica sol. alumina sol or water soluble phosphate such as aluminum phosphate, magnesium phosphate or the like, and the agent prepd, in such a way is used by coating the same on the parts where ionitriding is not required. |
