PURPOSE:To perform electrostatic charging and developing (and cleaning) effectively without making a copying machine large in size and intricate by constituting a driving mechanism in such a way that said mechanism can place a developing device in the position apart from a photoreceptor during electrostatic charging and places the same in a position proximate to the photoreceptor during developing simply by using a motor for moving a movable side plate without requiring other driving sources. CONSTITUTION:When a switch for electrostatic charging is closed, a driving motor 6 is driven to move a moving side plate 9 from a left side to a right side; at the same time, a corona voltage is applied to the corona electrode of an electrostatic charger 4, so that the charger 4 charges a photoreceptor 2 when it moves along the bottom surface thereof. At this time, a developing device 5 moves together with the charger 4, but since the device 5 is kept restrained by a pair of guiding rails 13 during the movement, said device is kept in the 1st position apart from the bottom surface of the photoreceptor 2, and is therefore prevented from giving adverse influence upon the charging of the photoreceptor and contaminating the surface of the photoreceptor with toners. When the developing device approaches to the right end, the device ascends along a tapered part 14 and is transferred to the 2nd position where it moves in proximity to the bottom surface of the photoreceptor. |
