PURPOSE:To reduce the innefective load applied to a switching network, by returning a response signal to the transmission side when the number of times of reception of the response signal for data reception or the interval of time of response signal return reaches a determined value. CONSTITUTION:A data packet from a packet terminal 4 is converted to a data signal by store and a forward exchange device 1 and is transmitted to a nonpacket terminal 3. The response signal from the terminal 3 is detected by a response signal detector 11, and a counting part 13 is counted up, and the elapsed time is measured by a time counting part 14. The terminal 4 transmits the next data packet without receiving the response packet, and the counting part 13 is counted up, and the elaspsed time is measured by the time counting part 14. When the counted value of the counting part 13 reaches a predetermined value or the elapse time measured by the time counting part 14 reaches a predetermined time, the response packet is transmitted to the terminal 4 through a device 12, and the next data packet is transmitted from the terminal 4. |
