A water mixing tap has a single control handle 42 which moves ball 18 about an axis perpendicular to the paper to determine the quantity of hot and cold water admitted from inlets 19, 20 to mixing chamber 39 inside the ball, and which handle also operates a closure member 47 to control the rate of flow from chamber 39, via bore 57 and annular chamber 58, to an outlet spout (60) carried by a rotatable sleeve 61. A slotted washer 33 engages flats (36a) on stem 36 to prevent the ball from rotating about the stem axis. In a modification (Figs. 14-17, not shown) the ball carries a pin engaging a slot in the valve body 12. The Specification describes in detail a number of different sealing arrangements.</p> |
