PURPOSE:To achieve a positive seal between the tops of vanes and a cylinder at the latter stage of compression process of a vane compressor, by selecting the length of the vanes and the distance S of the vanes from the center of a rotor to satisfy the relationship L/S>2, and forming projections and guide grooves at the rear end side of each vane. CONSTITUTION:In a vane compressor, including vanes 5 having a length L and slided along a plane spaced a distance S from the center O of a rotor 3 and employing such an arragement that the length L and the distance S satisfy the relationship L/S>2, projections 6 are formed at the opposite ends of each vane 5 at its rear portion and guide grooves 10 for the projections 6 are formed such that the vanes 5 are forced outward at least at the latter stage of compression cycle (from a point F to a point G) and preferably at the initial stage of suction cycle (from the point G to a point H). By employing such an arrangement, seal at the top of the vanes 5 can be ensured, and the seal can be maintained only by the centrifugal force even if the guide grooves 10 come out of contact with the projections 6 since a fairly great centrifugal force is acted, in particular, in the period before the vane 5 reaches the point F, so that the efficiency of compressor can be raised. |
