PURPOSE:To suppress the disperse of the electrode substance at the start of lamp and to improve the service life characteristic, by encapsulating the neon- crypton mixed gas as the starting rare gas in a light emission tube and the glow switch while bringing the pressure division ratio between encapsulated pressure and the crypton gas to the specific level. CONSTITUTION:The niobium tubes 4, 5 are encapsulated at both ends of a light emission tube 1 through the end rigns 2, 3 made of alumina while the electrodes 6, 7 are held at the tip section where the shortest distance (d) between said electrodes is shorter than 25mm., while the sodium amalgam 8 having 78% of the sodium mol ratio and the neon-crypton mixed gas as the starting rare gas are encapsulated in the light emission tube 1. Here the encapsulated mixed gas pressure is 30-250 Torr while the pressure division ratio of the crypton gas against the mixed gas is 3-50%. Similar mixed gas is also encapsulted in a glow switch for applying the starting voltage on said light emission tube. |
