PURPOSE:To decrease the number of outgoing lines which hold a conductive layer at a predetermined potential and to stabilize the characteristic and improve the life of the captioned panel, by subjecting a conductive layer for charge leak to short-circuit by means of a short circuiting conductive member, while said conductive layer being provided at a discharge cell position on both ends of a shift channel. CONSTITUTION:Between conductive layers for leak 11E, 11E' and 11W, 11W', there are interposed a short-circuiting conductive member 12, which subjects said layers to short-circuit. This short-circuiting conductive member 12, for instance, is composed of a conductor such as pillar-shaped Ni, Al or stainless- steel, or the like, and in the case of assembling a panel with a sealing member 13, said member is interposed between conductive layers 11E, 11E' and 11W, 11W' so that it may also serve as a spacer. In this way, conductive layers for leak 11E, 11E' and 11W, 11W' are subjected to short-circuit by a short-circuiting member 12, and thereby an outgoing line for maintaining the predetermined potential of conductive layers 11E, 11E' and 11W, 11W' need not be laid at the end part of glass substrate. By doing this, a discharge panel with stabilized characteristic and long life can be obtained at a low cost. |
