<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the burning loss and deterioration of a catalyst in the latter-step reduction reactor of an apparatus for reducing a gas contg. SO2 with hydrogen in 2 steps to remove the SO2, by regulating the temp. of the gas which enters the reactor. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous mixture 1 contg. gaseous SO2 is heated to a temp. above the reduction temp. with a heat exchanger 2 and mixed with a smaller amount of hydrogen than the amount required to reduce all of the contained SO2 through a regulating valve 23 and a duct 4. The amount of the SO2 is calculated by operation 19 using values measured with an SO2 analyzer 17 and a flowmeter 18. The resulting gaseous mixture is introduced into the 1st-step reduction reactor 5 to reduce most of the contained SO2. Part of the gas from the reactor 5 is passed through the exchanger 2, allowed to join 9 the remainder, and introduced into the 2nd-step reduction reactor 13 after adding hydrogen as a reducing agent through a duct 12. In the reactor 13 the remaining SO2 is reduced and removed. At this time, by regulating a regulating valve 24 through a temp. regulator 25 in accordance with the temp. of waste gas from the reactor 13, the amount of the added hydrogen is so regulated as to prevent the burning loss and deterioration of a catalyst in the reactor 13.</p> |
