PURPOSE:To make it possible to properly set torsional rigidity of a leaf spring without any influence on connecting mechanisms to a vehicle chassis or wheels, by designing width of the tapered pants of a leaf spring whose thickness is reduced toward the ends to be wider than those of the center section and of the end sections. CONSTITUTION:A leaf spring 2 is provided with tapered pants 5, 5 each of which is located between the center section 3 and the corresponding end sections 4, 4. The thickness of each tapered part is reduced toward the corresponding ends. The width b0 of this tapered pant 5 is designed to be wider than the width b1 of the center section 3 and the width b2 of the end section 4 and to be in approximately constant width over the whole length. Therefore, it is possible to set torsional rigidity of the leaf spring 2 at a desired value by properly setting the width b0 of the tapered pant 5 regardless of the width b1 of the center section 3 and the width b2 of the end section 4. |
