A simple portable device for separation of plasma from blood cells employs an evacuated canister comprising two chambers separated by a semi permeable membrane. The vacuum sealed into the canister during manufacture provides the driving force for the extraction of blood from a patient's vein through a needle and for the extraction of plasma from the blood across the membrane. Used for the production of small plasma and blood cell samples.
