PURPOSE:To fulfil the function of air back effectively by abrading and sliding a steering column and a steering shaft only at the short stroke required for the expansion and development of air back when a vehicle clashes with another vehicle and setting them to movable fit. CONSTITUTION:A steering column 3 is composed of the front and rear members 31 and 32. A wrap section 31b is formed at the rear of the front member 31 and a wrap section 2b is formed in front of the rear member 32, respectively. Both wrap sections 31b and 32b are fit to each other and bushes 33 and 34 are inserted between them. Large diameter friction engagement sections 33b and 34b and small diameter movable fit sections 33c and 34c are formed at the bushes 33 and 34. Besides, a steering shaft 4 consists of the front and rear members 41 and 42. The respective wrap sections 41b and 42b of their own members 41 and 42 are abraded and engaged through a friction engagement section 43. Further, each member of the column 3 and the shaft 4 is abraded and slid only at the short stroke required for the expansion and development of air back. Then it is formed so as to be set to fit movably and cause quick relative movement. |
