LOCK ASSEMBLY FOR CONTROL LEVER

A control assembly for a vehicle has a guide plate (46) having a plurality of guide slots (48, 50, 52, 54). A control lever (58) is controllably moveable within the slots to control activation of a power means, which powers various work apparatus of the vehicle. Accidental movement of the control lever can result in unintentional actuation of the power means and the work apparatus, with possible damage to the vehicle or surrounding structures. A controllable lock assembly secures the lever in a neutral position with the power means non-actuated. Repositioning the lock assembly away from the control lever allows normal manipulation of the lever. A detent assembly (94) provides limited actuation of the power means with the lock assembly in the locked position. The control and lock assembly are particularly useful in the controlling the drawn works of a pipelayer vehicle.
