N,N'-Diphenyl-p-phenylenediamines of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 can in each case be identical or different and represent hydrogen, 2-methyl-2-butyl, 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentyl, 4,6-dimenthyl-2-heptyl, 4,6,8-trimethyl-2-nonyl, cyclohexyl, 1-phenyl-1-ethyl or 2-phenyl-2-propyl, but cannot simultaneously be hydrogen, and R3 and R4 can in each case be identical or different and are hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or methoxy. These compounds are stabilisers for organic materials which protect the latter in particular against aging caused by high temperatures, atmospheric oxygen, ozone, light, exposure to microbes and dynamic stress, if appropriate during the simultaneous catalytic action of heavy metals, and which are therefore valuable age protectors for such materials.
