An air drier having two treatment chambers (31, 32) is proposed, through which the flow can pass alternately and which are, as a result, alternately regenerable. The two treatment chambers (31, 32) are arranged in a single container (1), only a single cartridge (4) being used. Container (1) and cartridge (4) are divided into two along the length by a multi-component transverse wall (16, 20, 21, 30). A compact construction is achieved in this manner, which requires only a small space. At replacement, only a single container (1) and a single cartridge (4) must be demounted or exchanged, that is the maintenance is simplified. The air drier is intended for use in compressed air brake units of motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
