In an apparatus for the alignment of bottles having depressions in the bottom region in labelling machines, in which the bottles, clamped between the plates (5) of a turntable (6, 7) and centering bells, run through an aligning and a labelling region, lifting rams (14), seated in the plates (5) and engaging on the bottle bottom, and cams (27), seated in the plates and engaging into the depressions on the bottle bottom, are coupled to one another by means of a positive control reversing the direction of movement. The positive control is formed by a double lever (22), on the longer lever arm of which the cam (27) and on the shorter lever arm of which the lifting ram (14) are articulated. Thus, when the cam (27) engages into a depression, the lifting ram (14) is lowered automatically. In this way, any slipping movement between the lifting ram (14) and the bottle bottom is forestalled, and the cam (27) is reliably prevented from running over. <IMAGE>
